Lutfi now is 20 months

Around 2 months
Around 3 months @ Summit Hotel, Prai

Looks like Irdina when she was small

Jan 2012
Lutfi has grown! To me he is an intelligent kid! He communicates, understands and very persistent! Does not take 'no' as an answer but he knows his boundaries and will say 'no, no, no" mimicking us saying that to him....

Loves to dance and listens to music. Currently his favourites are Intifada, Iftitah both from Raihan, Monkey jumping on the Bed, Animal Songs and IAM4U...

Doesn't eat a lot like his sister, Jasmin. Carrot is his favourite and has a sweet tooth. Runs and climb a lot. He's quite friendly and brave but sometimes shy with people he's not familiar with. At times he's kind of clingy but sometimes he just barge in at new places.

Plays with Kasyif and laugh whenever his brother makes funny noises and faces. Plays hide and seek with sisters and everyone will laugh looking at his face and behaviour.

At 3 months, comfortably lifting his head

I feel blessed. It's ironic, having kids make you sane (as most of the time they make you insane!)

Personalized Yassin

Been thinking to give away yassin as door gift for kenduri aqiqah. My intention is to regard this as sedekah and hoping the pahala will multiple when people read the yassin.
100 pcs in a box

Design of booklet

The insides with translation. Like it.
During mid October I found this website Creatively Designed where 1 yassin costs RM3 each. The products seem gorgeous on the website but quite out of my budget (unless I want to order mininum quantity of 50). To satisfy my want, I was planning to order only 50 pcs to suit my budget but procrastinate in placing the order. I also nearly scrapped my plan until one day on 1st Nov I saw the company was advertising a 1/2 price sale on the personalized yassin. I jumped from my seat because i was so thrilled! I can order more quantity with the same price! So I quickly made some phone calls and browsing to choose a design for the booklet. I had to pay extra RM50 due to rush order and I don't mind. So I paid RM200 for 100 pcs of personalized yassin. Although the yassin on sale is only in black and white, I was very satisfied and love the design. And i think it looks better in BW than in colour. Alhamdulillah, tercapai juga hasrat ini....

End of maternity leave

I don't wanna go to work! Next week I'll be back in the office after my 60 day maternity leave...Boringgg!
I've been baking these few days i.e doing things that I might not do once I'm back to work. I've gained better confidence in baking cakes. The ingredients are more a less the same except  additional 2 or 3. I did mostly chocolate cake because it uses less eggs and butter. I do want to bake other cake e.g. buttercake or sponge cakebut I haven't found recipes that use minimal eggs and butter. I've tried 3 different recipes for chocolate cake, brownies, chocolate ganache, buttercream for decorating and today tried to make swans out of choux pastry.
I'm planning to bake a chocolate cake for the kids birthday party on the 9th of December thus the enthusiasm.
You won't have the time for thoughts once you're stuck deep in your job so I used the long break that I have to muhasabah, plan things and enjoy my life at home.

Holiday at Sungkai

On the 29th October, we had a weekend trip to Felda Hot Spring, Sungkai in Perak. It was the first 'Family Day' arranged by neighbours of Lorong 3/14. I was on my 40th day of confinement so the trip was 'legal' for me. It was a first holiday outing for Lutfi so i was quite anxious actually. Alhamdulillah, he behaved well, slept through the night except he couldn't stand the aircond thus had blocked nose. Oh yeah! It was the first outing with Abah's new Estima too...
Lutfi on the way to Sungkai.

Creative eh. Umbrella turned into eye catching lamp shade
Among the activities.

The trip was enjoyable. Since i couldn't join any physical activities, I went to book a session with the spa. I paid RM140 for a Traditional Massage + Body Scrub. The spa is well decorated, I give 7/10. The service, mmmm... could be improved. The staff possibly is not  professionally trained thus I give 5/10. They have 2 huts and each hut has 2 rooms. 1 hut for the ladies and the other is for men. Value for money? Possibly...
The massage area. Nice

I was quite good on controlling what I ate except for breakfast on Sunday. I actually filled with 2 wholemeal bread with peanut butter & strawberry jam. But I sat there too long waiting for kakak and my husband to finish theirs thus I was helping myself with other stuff too (such as mee rebus & telur goreng mata kerbau!). I still resisted the oily stuff though such as nasi lemak and fried kuey teow.
What I had initially. Looks healthy isn't it

My hubby's

View from where we sat during breakfast
The room is spacious. I think because their target group is families. That's a plus point for us since we are now parents with 4 kids and a bibik.
Our room is 222, on the 1st floor

Could you see Lutfi on the bed?

Made him wear this before he outgrows it

(No pictures at the Hot Spring because i was busy looking after Lutfi)
All in all, it was an outing long waited for since i was pregnant. Looking forward to plan for 2012 now!....

Day 44 already?

Today is supposed to be a merdeka day for me. I remember during early confinement, I couldn't wait for the period to be over. But once the 44th day is here, I sighed. Thoughts on coming back to work disturbs me.

I've been very good during confinement. I was rather focused and followed the pantang to the T (except for 2 or 3 weekends). I weighed myself everyday to record any weight loss (my record include weight of bengkung around 0.5kg). I started recording on Day 21 of 77.8kg. My lowest was 75.7kg on Day 32 which is near to my pre pregnancy weight. However, due to breaking the rule (eating stuff other than nasi, fried food, sweet treats), I've gained and today I'm 77.6kg. If I had maintained the pantang, I could weigh 74-73kg by now. It took 3 weeks to lose 2kg and just a weekend to gain it back! Damn.... I noticed the weight gained when I didn't drink enough. This weekend is Hari Raya Haji, another challenge for me to overcome.

Up to today, I still wear bengkung. This bengkung is the most comfortable. I've tried the 'Lilit' and 'Tali kasut'. This comfortable bengkung similar to 'Lilit' but the difference is in the material of cloth used. This one is imported from Indonesia. I even thought of continue wearing it when I'm back at work.

Up to today, I have 18 days before I come back to work. I want to focus on my work after this thus I shall use the available time now to plan activities/holidays, plan my diet and healthy routine, spend time with kids, update my blog, savour quality time with baby Lutfi and a lot of other things which if I don't do the thinking now, I would waste the time that I have now.

I've given birth!

I only get to update today, on my 22nd day of confinement! Anyway, I have safely delivered SVD a 4.65kg baby boy on 20 Sept 2011 at about 1.14pm (tengah azan Zohor). I had a regular check up on the 19th and was making sad faces to the doctor in order to plead for a MC that day. She then checked and found out i had 4 cm dilated and warded me. I was not prepared at all and rather speechless. And the suspense started from there...
Alhamdulillah, everything went ok without any complication. Except the baby was detained for 5 days due to his heart beating too fast. Apparently this is normal for big babies. 4.65kg...yeah, i was shocked too. The doctor did mention about it looking at my belly but i bet she also didn't expect it to be more than 4.5kg. During labour, i did think this might be my last. I thought of the risks of getting pregnant after 35 and was too tired during pregnancy. There is also a risk of bigger baby following this pregnancy and I'm too scared for a C-sec birth.
Obviously i had a tear but i don't know how bad it was (if it was bad at all). I was fully comfortable (when the tear healed) on my 12th days of confinement. Usually it takes around 1 to 2 weeks to heal. I don't remember my previous records but i guess i healed faster than this one.
This is my first time going through confinement at my own home, previous 2 were at Batu Pahat. I think I'm more organized at my own home. I listed out the medications i have to take, write down the confinement countdown. This time I'm more aware of the confinement stages.
First, make sure the tear is healed in order for you to feel comfortable during confinement. Once you're comfortable, you can now focus on your effort of losing the pregnancy weight. So you must take necessary healing medication  and rest during the 1st & 2nd week. I took pati ikan haruan as recommended by friends/families. Pati gamat is good too which i took during my 2nd confinement. Other confinement medication:
Nona Roguy Akar Herbanika (to keep body warm)
Nona Roguy Phytonatal pills (to avoid constipation)
HiGoat goat's milk (to lower baby's jaundice reading)
Jamu (traditional way to maintain energy and glow)
Pati prune Innershine (just want to try. Who knows I'll glow like Maya Karin ;-P )

Apart from the medication, there is also confinement rituals:
Urut/sengkak (traditional way to put womb back to its place and treat the body back to normal)
Tungku (same as above)
Param (yellowish powder spread on the body to keep the body warm and fair)
Pilis (dark mixture placed on forehead to avoid wind getting into the body)
Bengkung (belly wrap to shrink the belly and ensure the womb is in its place)

I managed to do the rituals until today. Now that I am comfortable, I'm planning for aqiqah and birthday party for the kids. I also need to think of my objectives after confinement. I shall write about it in another entry :-)
Right after labour.

On his 6th day.

Hukum puasa bagi ibu mengandung

This is a very interesting topic for me to write as I am now 34 weeks pregnant and fasting. I found this while browsing and was unsure about the part where mothers who breastfeed or pregnant continously can just 'bayar fidyah'. Then i found answers from Yusof Qardhawi here which in line with what the first blog said.
I am somewhat feel uneasy the way the first blogger wrote about the hukum....although 'Islam itu mudah' tapi jangan sampai 'kita ambil mudah'... so the way we write must not make the reader thinks 'Oh! kalau camtu senang la....kalau pregnant/breasfeed tak payah puasa'... I'm writing this to remind myself how can i remember about the hukum. (Thanks to this site too)

KEYWORD
Hukum puasa
Sihat
Kesihatan
Keuzuran

EXPLANATION
Hukum puasa?

So if 2008 tak puasa 15 hari and tak sempat ganti in 2009, kena puasa 15 hari dan bayar fidyah untuk 15 hari. 2010 pulak, pun tak abis ganti (tinggal 5 hari lah katakan), seterusnya kena puasa ganti 5 hari and bayar fidyah berganda 5 hari x 2 nilai (2009 & 2010).

Hukum puasa kalau bimbangkan kandungan/susu tak cukup? This part looks confusing but actually straight forward. Before we are worried, have we tried to fast first? If we have and the doctor says fasting is affecting the baby/milk supply, then we can break fast on that reason from the expert. But still, we still need to ganti puasa and bayar fidyah(sekiranya tak abis ganti pada tahun ke2) macam biasa.

However, based on Yusuf Qardhawi's opinion, kelonggaran diberikan kepada perempuan yang bersalin/menyusu badan setiap tahun berturut-turut. Maknanya tahun 1 tak dapat puasa sbb pregnant, pastu tahun 2 doktor nasihatkan tidak berpuasa kerana didapati susu badan berkurang kerana berpuasa. Then tahun ke 3, mengandung lagi. So kalau anak tuh belum 2 tahun tapi kita dah mengandung, adakah kita masih breastfeed anak kita yang tua? Maknanya still ada break antara mengandung and breastfeed yang tua, so dah tak kira berturut... Wallah a'lam....

Even musafir, walaupun diharuskan berbuka tetapi masih perlu menqadakan puasanya.

Berpuasa itu banyak kelebihan and I am confident it would not bring any harm to my pregnancy. Not sure about milk supply as i've never got to breastfeed during Ramadan. I guess moms have to eat and drink a lot during sahur to ensure the milk supply is still there. If the supply is still low, then you may break fast but still need to qada the puasa.

Islam itu mudah tapi jangan ambil mudah :-)

15th day of fasting

Wanted to update earlier but laziness kicked in. Wanted to update on Curtain Search III..my Fella Design sale curtains are done and i received them about 2 weeks ago. Guess how much was the service charge? RM120!!! That is really cheap for 3 6 feet windows and 2 feet roman blind (I still haven't paid my auntie yet, have to wait for this month salary. And still can't be hang up yet, need to change current flimsy Ikea poles to a more sturdy ones since the fabric is rather heavy.

My Elyza's curtains also done and hung up end of last month. Just like what i expected. Although the blue stands out but the lily flowers pattern blends with the wall so the curtains is rather subtle and nice....
However, there was a bit of a problem for the roman blind. My eyes just thought the bottom part is tilted. The installer kept on adjusting as i kept seeing it unstraight. Finally i accepted 99% percent perfection because i pitied the installer.

I took pictures of the curtains but doesn't look really nice here. Just like how i felt when i chose the fabric. You have to see it appreciate as it doesn't look nice in photos.

Today is the 15th day of fasting. Still going strong. This time i really eat less than previous Ramadan. Maybe the baby accomodate most of my tummy space. I drool on drinks rather than food. I know what i want to drink but no feelings on food. Usually i want some appetizers and straight to main meal. This time....ahhh! don't care as long as the drinks are special. Well, actually the drinks are the usual: Sarsi, Cooled tea, Sirap... and today i had banana shake with oat for sahur....Heaven man....!

1st trimester new experience

This time, the pregnancy definitely feels different from previous. I felt so so tired and my belly got so gassy. The hungry part is about the same as when i carried Kasyif except this time round, i watch what i eat. I don't just barge to whatever i see or whatever i want. I make sure to eat more fruits and include oat in my diet. I still take only 1/2 or less rice not because i'm afraid that i'll get fat but because i don't feel like eating rice too much. Maybe because i'm already used to it even before i was pregnant.

Hormones kicked in
I had dreams and mostly kinky dreams! I thought it was inappropriate and blaming myself for having kinky thoughts that lead to such kinky dreams. It won't be good for the baby.... But wait, as far as i can remember, i was busy thinking about preparing myself and the house for the newborn. I was worried and checked out the Baby Center website. I was relieved! It was just the hormones.....

Apart from dreams, i also had difficulty to sleep through the night. I always found myself awake around 2-3 am and it was hard to get back to sleep. Although it was a good time to perform solat 'tahjud' and other solat sunat, i was too tired to do anything. I felt like i was 8 months pregnant at that time.

Apparently, these are normal during the 1st trimester according to Baby Center but i didn't have such experience from my previous pregnancies. Alhamdulillah, the dreams and tiredness have started to subside. I really can't wait the 2nd trimester and enjoy being pregnant.

I'm pregnant!

I tested on Sat 29 Jan. The odd thing was the signs that i got the day before.....

'I think i might be pregnant..' was what i said to my friends at lunch on Friday. I was just saying without giving it a thought and i said it because i was particularly hungry at that time. Not because i really thought that i might be pregnant. Once that came out from my mouth, i was like "Why did i ever say that?"......

Then, i got the news that my sister in law is pregnant, didn't really expect it so i called my mum on that Friday afternoon. While we were talking, my mum asked me "Are you pregnant too?"... I was like "Of course not! I called to ask about Iza!" then laughed. As i was laughing, i thought "why does my mum think that i'm pregnant? And it was the 2nd 'pregnancy' word i've heard.

I didn't think i was pregnant because i was trying to lose weight. I planned to get pregnant only around May after the weight management program where i could still go for the Sabah trip in October (5 month preggy is still allowed to fly, rite?!)

Allah itu lebih berkuasa menentukan segala-galanya. I really didn't expect a double line on the home pregnancy test kit. I tested just before i go to sleep (balik kampung Perlis that night).

And the hormones already started to kick in that very next morning! The same night i had a dream that my husband had another wife. I was giggling imagining my parents receiving the news the 5th grandchild for 2011 is on the way. I also cried and sobbed because i couldn't go to Sabah and to watch the excitement of my kids boarding the plane. Never had a high emotional rush like this before.....

Wish for a baby boy to accompany Kasyif.
So my future posts will be all about pregnancy!... :-)
