Wedding cake 2

I reordered a wedding cake from Lovelycakes for my auntie in June. Previously I ordered for my brother's wedding in Sept (post here). Why I reordered is because I'm satisfied with her work, her cakes are tasty and she is easy to deal with.

This time I ordered a simple design with fresh flowers. I like!!! I just chose and referred to one of her previous designs. This design is usually done on fondant finishing but I requested her to do it with fresh cream (I wanted every bit of the cake to be edible, no one eats fondant!).

2 tier sponge cake with red flowers. So romantic!

Really really like the blooming red roses.

In her previous design, the pearl was silver. I requested gold to
represent my auntie who is in her 50s (gold=50 years, right?)

The base (on loan) to make the cake looks taller.

Semoga bahagia hingga ke
akhir hayat.

Update on interior decor

As of today. Actually, not that much... Haha!

Taken from dining table angle.
From the drawer with lights on.
The venetian mirror paired with the flower arrangement.
The 4 hydrangeas bought at Metrojaya sale @ RM5 each.
3 stalks of lily bought at SSF @ RM20 each

And daun 'lidah buaya' for RM1 each.
New addition is only the flowers.

Flowers and Pots

I bought 2 small pots for RM5 (reject items) in Ipoh on our way back from Perlis to Bangi. Also hanged purple flower for RM10. I personally think it was a bargain. Other things I surveyed:

  • small water features_starts from RM250
  • 'tempayan'_starts from RM120

I was spoilt for choice. All were pretty!

This was 1 size up from the size that I bought.

The 1 size down. RM5 for 2 pots!

This actually looks so sweet real life.
No cost for the flowers, it was given.

I chose dark purple

Ahhh...So sweet...

Feeling inspired

I was on leave on Friday, 11 October to prepare for birthday celebration at Kasyif's school but it was postponed to the end of the month. Didn't want to cancel the leave, I planned to run long due errands: review Jasmin's personal development file at school, submit relevant documents for Kasyif's Standard 1 registration, get a foot reflexology at Econsave and Mayfair treatment (which I had to cancel because I just got my period). Got side tracked: Ariani and went to the bank and find out about mortgage refinancing for hubby.
3 of 5 tudungs bought at Ariani. Heh...

I planned to make homemade snacks for our journey to Perlis for Hari Raya Haji break. I shopped for the groceries at Econsave after I had my foot massaged such as fruits, beef patties for burgers, air kotak and jajan. I love to prepare food or clothes for a journey but now that I'm working, my helper is the one who does it now.

I made the Marie Biscuit Chocolate Cake aka Kek Batik to try out my colleague's recipe. I like her version because the sweetness is just nice. I also made 'Subway' style sandwich with crabstick mix as the filling.

The no-bake-cake done to be chilled in the fridge.

Cut into bite sized cubes
Apart from crabstick, I also use the beef patty cut lengthways as filling.

2 type of fillings: crabstick & beef patty.

Done. Ready to cut and go

Chicken pie & frozen puff pastry

Made this when my husband went to PD for a workshop for 3 days early October. It was on a Sunday so I was trying to entertain the kids when their father was away.

Bought the frozen puff pastry from Yummie Bakery about RM12. I've been wanting to try and use the frozen pastry as it would make life easier whenever I want to bake a pie. I do have a good recipe for pie crust but I just want to give this a try.

The frozen pastry

Frying the chicken and celery.

Later add carrots, potatoes, cream or milk and season to taste.

I think this is a medium size cupcake casing used to line the pie
I fully utilized the pastry i.e. I rolled any remnants without leaving anything to waste. The kids helped out with the filling and trimmings. I learnt that you can't really reuse or roll the pastry again because the pastry will shrink when baked. Thus the pastry is to be used as is.

Jasmin is sealing the pie using a fork.

3 bigger size pies decorated by me.

The pies already out of the oven.

It browned but the base was not really crisp and looked like undercooked.

The lattice deco once baked.

Looks yummy!
Will need to improve on the filling and to add mushroom in the recipe. The downside of the frozen pastry is I find it salty. Hope I will not give up to master the dish!

Le Pliage & me

Love Le Pliage...

Le Pliage Cuir in blue

Plan for 2nd property

If my strategy were to follow the infrastructure, I would chose Kajang area as there'll be 2 MRT stations in the town.

2nd travel wish list_Japan

Japan has never been in my travel wish list knowing the cost would be expensive. Japan surfaced when I moaned to my husband that one of my colleagues is visiting the UK next year. I said I love to travel but I want to travel with all my children. Then my husband said to me to do a short listed destinations with estimated costs and we will decide from there. Among the places I  mentioned: Korea, UK, US, Australia, Bali. Then my husband compared Korea and Japan.

'Japan? I've always wanted to go to Japan!' I said with disbelief. Suddenly the memories and desire to experience Japan came back. It's the country I've always wanted to experience since I learnt Japanese language during secondary school!

If I had to choose between UK and Japan, I would choose Japan because I've never been there. The culture and it's advanced technology is what I want to see. The cost to go has made me forgotten about Japan but as my husband said, 'estimate and we'll go from there'.....

Suddenly, everything seems possible!

Semenyih

My husband's preference is to buy a subsale property at an "affordable" price. So last Sunday, we went to Semenyih to see the town and view a few properties on auction list. We went to Bandar Tasik Kesuma where the auctioned properties are, Taman Rinching 1,2,3,4 and Setia Ecohills.

Why Semenyih? 'Follow the infrastructure' as Ho Chin Soon said. There are good size 1 storey bungalows with ample land size which to me has a lot of potential in Bandar Tasik Kesuma. However, the surrounding is a let down which is very unfortunate. The rest of the properties were just so so.
Then I said I wanted to see the Setia Ecohills gallery. It was my first visit to SP Setia gallery and I was impressed. Very posh with live pianist, refreshment, children's corner, airy toilets and clean surau. I like!
Terrace houses were launched on 1st October and sold out (we didn't know until we came to the gallery) with starting price around 400k. My husband thinks it's reasonable considering it is a SP Setia project. Currently, they are launching semi d's starting at 1.1m....Gulp!

Semenyih is potential. My husband is also considering Enstek, Salak Tinggi and Southville. Hope he'll find his 'soulmate' soon. Aminnnn......

p/s: will take pictures after this to document our journey in property hunting.

Evo SoHo Bangi

Looking back, it was within 5 days I made my decision to buy a property for investment. We went to IProperty Expo on the 19th and I booked Evo SoHo on the 23rd. It is some sort a wish came true because I've been wanting to purchase a property (if I could call it a property, the size is rather small)so I won't be spending my hard earned money on unnecessary stuff.

My husband and I went to Andaman Sales Office at Seksyen 9 to see the show unit on Saturday. The unit at 454sqft seems ok when furnished with fitted furniture and I was excited seeing the streamlined finishing. The unit purchased will be furnished exactly the same but exclude the following:

  1. Wall cabinet
  2. Mirror at cabinet and wall
  3. Wall paper
  4. Plastered ceiling

Mirror not included

The 'kitchen'. Mirror in between & wall cabinet not included.

Wall paper not included

I chose unit with balcony

I think this mirror included. Plaster ceiling not.

Some sort like a reception table

TV included. There's a small fridge under the top which
I think is also included
That didn't discourage me at all! "That can be combined with when I want to wallpaper my existing home. I just need to save" I said to myself.

Seeing the unit, I think the space is more for a place to rest rather than as an office. 1st thing, you see the bed in the middle once you enter the unit! Can't picture to whom I'll rent the unit to. What I could imagine is my kids jumping up and down the bed like when we were in a hotel room!

The feel is like renting a room or staying at a hotel.
